Fairfax CASA provides a dedicated advocate (a CASA) to every child with an open abuse case before the Court. CASAs are often the one consistent adult, dedicated to the child, as they navigate the complicated child welfare system. CASAs stay on their cases from beginning to closure (an average of 26 months), visit with their children twice monthly, attend all meetings and hearings regarding the child, and gather information from all service providers. They write comprehensive reports for the judge, with recommendations as to what is in the child's best interest. CASAs ensure that no child slips through the cracks of the child welfare system.
